Osteopathic treatment for disorders of the art. temporomandibular
The current concept of dental occlusion not only designates contact between the dental arcades, but also includes the temporomandibular joint, head and neck muscles, swallowing, etc. When a patient presents an occlusal disorder, and in all osteopathic treatment, the osteopath must take into account not only dental contact but also the remainder of orofacial function components. Many spinal problems are due to the poor functioning of the temporomandibular joint (clicking, pain etc.), cervical and dorsal connections direct to the jaw must be taken into account.
