Osteopathy is a curation system which treats the body structure, bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and tissues with its totality and the interelationship between them.
In this sense, osteopathy is a holistic treatment.
Today we know many problems of the backbone can effect not only muscles and joints but also other tissues and organs such as the lungs, the heart, the stomach, bowels, etc. It is also true that the malfunction of any of the main organs can injure the spinal column and print somathic signs in the backbone.
Is for this simple reason that during the osteopathic exploration, the osteopath cannot forget to pay attention to the holistic caracteristic of the human body when giving a diagnosis. Due to this fact, the osteopath considers the body as indivisible as a whole and also interrelated and other external factors such as the hygiene, eating habits and physical training are also part of this totality.
During the first visit with a good profesional all these factors have to be examined and analyzed since in this first meeting the osteopath has to gather all these internal and external data that will after facilitate the diagnosis of the patient and the restoration of his/her corporal equilibrium.
